Cover Tune-Ups

There are a handful of parts in a pool cover that are prone to wearing out fairly quickly. Some wear out due to use such as the sliders that are made of plastic as they move in the metal tracks when the cover opens and closes. Others such as the pulleys wear out even when not in use since the bearings slowly corrode in the wet environment. When they break they can cause the cover to tear when it is opened or closed so this is a prime example where an ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure in that replacing a few worn parts can not only keep the cover working when you want to use the pool but also prevent expensive damage to the motor, tracks or tears in the cover material.

Included in the Tune-Up:

  • Inspect, clean, flush the drains and vault box - these tend to fill up with leaves and become a favorite home for rodents. Over time clogged drain submerge the whole motor in water, usually ruining it!

  • Flush the tracks and check all the pulleys, ropes, sliders and other parts that wear out and can cause one side to pull more than the other which leads to torn covers.

  • Scub, patch (if needed) and apply a UV Vinyl Protectant to the cover to extend the life expectancy of the cover.

  • Lubricate and ensure the motor is running smoothly and the cover is opening evenly and closing without excess chafe.
